12/11/2018 Primary Football Team Update

Following our second visit to Aston Villa FC training ground being cancelled mid-October, we attended AVFC on Monday 12th November 2018 looking to maintain our top of the league position.

In the team this week was:

Ethan, Colby, Pupil G, Pupil T, Pupil S, Kemar, Tiah and Harley.

The first game started off rocky, a few pupils playing in new positions and our goal keeper not wishing to play this game following sporting events over the weekend. Marking was good, but the opposition had been clearly working more on their team work and passing skills. Some good saves by Colby (3) in our first game, but despite a lot of hard effort, we lost 1-0 to Timberley Academy.

On to our next game against our old rivals, Springfield House. Pupils were keen and had settled into being at Aston Villa and this was clear from the first whistle. Some fantastic play by Tiah, Colby and Kemar who were passing and moving well off the ball. Pupil S, had to put in some fantastic tackles, and from this Pupil T was able to set up Pupil G with our first goal. Northern House School had finally arrived! A good save from our regular goal keeper Ethan who kept the score at 1-0, but Northern House Solihull were only just getting started! Pupil T making some great passes and setting up Pupil G for his second goal. With Colby in the midfield, things started to get moving and the passing and shooting were starting to flow with Pupil G and Harley scoring two more before the end of the game netting us our first win of the day 4-0. (Scorers: Pupil G x3, Harley x1).

Our final game against a new school to join the league, Welsh Farm School. Northern House Solihull, were definitely up for this one! Straight off the mark, Pupil T getting stuck in and firing home a right footed shot into the bottom corner, the keeper stood no chance! Colby and Tiah dictating from the middle and Kemar looking sharp with his passing too, this meant the Welsh Farm School were up against a tough team! Colby coming to life moving further up field to score 2 goals in quick succession. Pupil G, as always getting on the scoresheet with a close range tap in beating the defender to the ball. Despite the 4-0 victory, our defensive players continued to maintain focus and did not allow for any messing around near the Northern House Solihull goal. Ethan making some well needed saves and showing why he is our regular choice goal keeper.

Overall a fantastic day out with the Primary Team from Northern House Solihull, 2 wins 1 loss.

We did play Timberley Academy after in a friendly and drew with them 1-1… I’m sure we will meet them again at the SMILE education Tournament on the 22nd November 2018.

League table to be updated once received from AVFC
