MAC Makes Music Showcase (31st March 2017)
On Monday, pupils were invited to take part in MAC Makes Music showcase at the MAC (Midlands Arts Centre) in Cannon Hill Park, one of the leading venues for performances in Birmingham. The performance featured other special schools from around the Midlands as well as the MAC’s own band who meet there every week to rehearse and perform music together.
The pupils have worked hard all term and this really was their chance to shine and they didn’t disappoint! Beginning with a performance of Radioactive, one of the microphones hadn’t been turned on. Kealen took it in his stride though like a true professional, the engineer sorted out the issue and the band started again. Well done Kealen. Kealen was ably accompanied by D’Vantay on keyboard, Hayden on guitar rocking out the chords; with Phil Collier from Solihull Music Service and James Stanley, the music leader from the MAC. They then followed this up with a performance of September Song. The audience wanted more so D’Vantay did an impromptu performance of Happy Birthday for a member of the audience whose birthday it was.
The band have been trying to decide on a name but for this gig were introduced as the Three Divas. The school is very proud of how our pupils conducted themselves!
Well done to the Three Divas and a special thanks to Phil Collier from Solihull Music Service and James Stanley, the music leader from the MAC.
